Konkani music has developed to be a vehicle of emotion and thought through its innovation and creativity. Another innovation, which is first-of-its kind in konkani music has rocked the konkani music on Dec 18, 2007 by the release of “YE MANA” the first ever konkani solo music album by Adolf Jayatilak.
“YE MANA” was released today at a gathering arranged at the Mangalorean Swagath Restaurrent in Doha by Alfred and Rita Sequeira from Gulf Enterprises. Vivian D’souza the MC of the programme welcomed the gathering and introduced Mr.Adolf Jayatilak to the gathering. The Chief Guest of the programme Alfred Sequeira congratulated Jayatilak and said that the Mangalorean Community in Qatar are very happy about the news that a resident of Qatar is releasing his first album in Qatar, he wished Mr.Jayatilak and appealed to all gathered to support him for his new release.
The programme was attended by the Mangalorean Konkani speaking community members residing in Qatar. Among the audience present were noted musicians of Qatar Norbert Pereira, Lancy D’souza, Alwayn D’souza and Rupesh D’souza. Mangalore Cricket Club office bearers were also present for the release. Adolf Jayatilak proposed the vote of thanks and ended his note by singing a konkani number “Vollu Vollu” from the album.
Speaking to Daijiworld after the release of the album Adolf Jayathilak said “Making of the album was a wonderful experience. Even though Konkani is not my mother tongue my love for Konkani is immense and Konkani music is always close to my heart. I appeal to all mangaloreans to support our youngsters in the field of music. Our youngsters need our encouragement and guidance. This album has incorporated different styles of music to reach out to all music listeners. I also take this opportunity to thank our two youngsters, musician Roshan D’Souza and lyricist Lloyd Rego who have worked so very hard that their talent shows in every composition. To conclude in the words of Billy Joel I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music”
