Mangalore, Nov 4, 2014 : The 10th ‘Mandd Sobhann - Carvalho Ghorannem Kalakar Puroskar’ was conferred on young Music Composer Shri Roshan D’Souza Angelore, at Kalaangann, on Sunday, November 2.

Shri Roshan D’Souza was honoured for introducing a new trend in Konkani Music, which is popular among the youth and that which is also being followed by other young composers.

The award was presented by Shri James Mendonca, President – Mangalore Konkans, Dubai. Dr. Pratap Naik from Carvalho Ghorannem, Mandd Sobhan Gurkar Eric Ozario, and President Louis Pinto shared the dais.

The award consisted of a cash prize of Rs 25,000/-, a citation, a memento and public honour.

Acknowledging the honour, Roshan D’Souza said that the Award belonged to his mother, who has been his great support in his musical journey. He also thanked all those who recognised his talent and gave him an opportunity to shine.

The ‘Hanv Konkani’ – Global Survey Questionnaire in Konkani (Kannda script) was released on the occasion at the hands of Shri James Mendonca.

Shri Gopal Gowda, Kudmi leader was honoured by Mandd Sobhann for being awarded the ‘Jilla Rajyothsava Prashasti’.

The programme was compered by Shri Stany Alvares, Co-ordinator, Mandd Sobhann.

The Award Ceremony was followed by the 155th Monthly Theatre ‘Konkani Loak-kola Dorshon’, presented by Shri Guru Kala Mandal, Pisgal, Goa.

The troupe received a rousing response from the audience for the amazing folk performances they presented, which included – ‘Shigmo’, ‘Zagor’, ‘Dhangar’, ‘Divya Nach’, ‘Ghoddya Moddnni’, ‘Dekhnni’, ‘Fugddi’ and ‘Goff’.
